Eliminate food sources: Store food in sealed containers, clean up crumbs and spills immediately, and keep garbage bins sealed. Remove pet food bowls overnight.
Reduce moisture: Fix leaking pipes and ensure proper drainage around the foundation. Moist soil near the foundation creates ideal pavement ant nesting conditions.
Remove harborage: Keep firewood, bricks, and stones away from the foundation. These create shelter for pavement ant colonies right at your building perimeter.
How to Control an Existing Pavement Ant Infestation
Gel bait placed along active ant trails is the most effective pavement ant control method. Workers carry the slow-acting bait back to the colony, eliminating the queen and nest within 7–14 days. Do not use fast-kill sprays alongside bait — they repel ants from the bait and significantly reduce its effectiveness.
