1. Thoroughly cleaning your home
This may seem like a cliche, but one place you’d always find cockroaches are in filth and dirt because they are always on the lookout for sources of food. Cleaning is an easy way to get rid of cockroaches in no time. Make sure you put away after meals and wash dishes. Also clean spills and crumbs immediately. Ensure you also take out the garbage before going to bed. Remove grease from the stovetop, mop regularly, and seal your food in a container.
2. Using boric acid paste
Using boric acid paste is another remedy many homes keen to DIY use to get rid of cockroaches. The boric acid is mixed with sugar and flour to make a dough. A ball of dough is left around the home where the cockroaches will feed on it. The four and sugar will attract the cockroaches, while the boric acid will kill them.
3. Bay leaves also helps
A natural way to get rid of cockroaches is using bay leaves. Dry some bay leaves and put them in places such as in the cabinet and under the sink. After a few days, the cockroaches will disappear.
4. Try some mint spray
If you have some mint around, you can use it to get rid of cockroaches. Cockroaches hate the odor of mint. Add about 20 drops of mine extract into 100 ml of water, and spray it at areas where cockroaches are usually found.
5. Avoid using paper bags in your house
Lastly, limit the amount of paper around your house. Even if you must use paper shopping bags, don’t leave them lying around in your home. Cockroaches lay their eggs in papers. Reducing paper in your home reduces the number of cockroaches around your home.
